Dinosaurs and Doodles

Dinosaurs and Doodles! I'm exhibiting my art, my characters, children's books and some of the ranges of products that I've created from them, at The Octagon Theatre in Yeovil Somerset BA20 1UX from the 13th September until November 4th 2013.
Showing work from Dinosaur Roar, The Christmas Bear, Big Bug Little Bug and other well known children's books, I'm also showing new and very different work, friendly but sllghtly strange creatures... with a little bit of Steampunk for good measure. Easy links to the new StrangeStore ranges, where you can order online immediately from the exhibition, or anytime. Signed and Framed Prints are available to order from the box office at The Octagon Theatre.
Expect to see dinosaurs and monsters, black cats and trolls, little rusty robots and steampunk machines, scruffy little dogs and big spotty bugs, secret gardens, moonlit nights and dusty box rooms.

Here is a review of the private view of Paul Stickland's Exhibition, Dinosaurs and Doodles, featuring music from DESIGN.

PAUL STICKLAND PRIVATE VIEW

"I have enjoyed many exhibition private views in galleries around the region, sipping wine and exchanging pleasantries with artists and patrons alike but I’ve not been to one quite like this.

Paul Stickland’s work is a delight. He is a renowned illustrator and author of children’s books and his work ranges from highly detailed drawings of Christmas scenes which reminded me of books from my childhood to amusing doodles of cats. Some of these have been enhanced with computer generated surfaces or with various pieces scanned by Paul - most notably some script from an old letter.

My favourite illustrations were for a series called Barely There in which toy bears and rabbits appear to fade into their surroundings. They are superb examples of his technical ability and fertile imagination. And a special mention must go to the reworking of a portrait of Mozart and steampunk inspired portraits.

Also, by the magic that is technology, some of his images have been transferred to plates, t-shirts, mugs and other items available from his website.
To shift the evening into another gear, local band Design played a short set and their brand of punk-pop (or poppy punk!) was well received by the arty crowd. If you haven’t seen them before then check the listings pages in this very magazine, they’re sure to be on somewhere near you."
